TP 200 06.06.2009 - 04

Continued from TP 200 11.05.2009 - 03

Saturday 06 June 2009 - It was the main Thomas Paine celebrations weekend. I was at the library from about 9am and among the visitors were Bill and Barbara. Barbara said she knew my Grandfather Ned Pamphilon and lots of other connections to my family past. It can be energy sapping meeting the public on a daily basis, but also hugely enjoyable meeting those such as these.

At 12.45pm attended the Tom Paine 200 Celebrations lunch in the gardens at King's House. I've by chance caught Robert in his red hat and green jacket.

Out front is the Thomas Paine statue and in the streets many Paine celebratory activities on going.

In the evening I attended The Dinner in the Knave for the benefit of St. Nicholas Hospice. Here are a couple of shots before the event commenced.

The Queen painting was presented to the Duchess of Gloucester and featured in the table menu. Now I cross my fingers and trust a wealthy benefactor will purchase the painting for the benefit of the hospice coffers and ideally keep the painting within Bury. It looked great in the cathedral.

It was a long day; Thomas Paine during the day and the Queen and the cathedral in the evening. It keeps life interesting.
